Why technology is important

The aim of any medical treatment is to cure the patient, the same lies with treatment for cancer. However, extreme accuracy and great care is necessary. Technological developments have now made diagnosis more accurate and treatments more effective.

Some examples include, the Linear Accelerator used to deliver external radiation, the Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) which is the most precise method of external radiation or even the 3D Conformal Therapy which is also important amongst cancer treating technologies.

Recent advances in imaging, patient positioning and targeting has also contributed to the effectiveness in treatment.
